The conflicts of interest in pharmaceutical regulators across the globe are well known, with Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) being the highest at 96% of funding received from the pharmaceutical industry that they purport to regulate. These proportions directly correlate with the proportion of approvals. This is explained further in the 2022 British Medical Journal investigation, From FDA to MHRA: are drug regulators for hire?

The equivalent New Zealand regulator is a government department known as Medsafe.

Recently New Zealand Doctors Speaking Out With Science received a response to their freedom of information request on the same conflicts of interest as they relate to Medsafe. They shared this yesterday on social media.
In a recent OIA response our team received from Medsafe it shows 84.05% of its funding comes from big pharma, with the amount of money increasing from these companies each year.
Medsafe states on its own website, that it is “also accountable to the pharmaceutical industry for those activities which are funded by fees collected from the [pharmaceutical] industry”.
Given that Pfizer is in the top five contributors, further questions arise as to the recent full approval given to four variations of Comirnaty, the COVID-19 mRNA vaccines used in NZ.
NZDSOS once again, calls for an immediate halt to the mRNA injection rollout, pending a full investigation, and calls for true transparency and accountability from our national medical regulatory body, Medsafe, regarding conflicts of interest between funding agencies and drug approvals.

From another NZ social media account:
These are not just dry, dusty numbers on a spreadsheet . . .
One year ago, Medsafe (New Zealand’s medicines regulator) discontinued regular pharmacovigilance reports showing the number of New Zealanders who have reported adverse events following covid injections.
At that time, these were the numbers:
- 65,000 Adverse Event Reports.
- 3,688 Serious Adverse Event Reports.
- Nearly 6,00 Adverse Event Reports for 5-19 year olds.
- 184 families reported the death of a loved one following the injection.
- 974 Kiwis had myocarditis/pericarditis following the injection.
Medsafe itself acknowledges that typical reporting captures no more than 5% of the actual number of adverse events.
As a side note, in a recent Substack entitled ‘An open letter to the New Zealand Ministry of Health: An offer you can’t refuse’, Steve Kirsch wrote: “I have record-level data from multiple countries and it’s clear the COVID vaccines are killing at least 1 person per 1,000 doses on average which means that around 12,000 New Zealanders were killed by the COVID vaccines.”
And just listen to how these numbers of adverse events and deaths reported for the Pfizer mRNA injection, compare to those reported for every vaccine administered in New Zealand in a typical year. This is a clip from a presentation Lynda Wharton (from The Health Forum NZ) gave in Christchurch on 23 September, 2023.
