Last year Nature magazine published SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell immunity in cases of COVID-19 and SARS, and uninfected controls. Based in Singapore, researchers found that 100% of those infected with SARS-CoV-1 in 2003 (as well as many with no history of infection) still possessed long lasting memory T cells providing robust cross-reactivity to SARS-CoV-2 which causes COVID-19. These two viruses share a similar ancestor and they are about 13% different. Despite this difference, vigorous cross-immunity exists between them.
Current SARS-CoV-2 variants remain a maximum of 0.3% different from each other. Immunity against the variants in recovered COVID-19 patients, and in vaccinees, persists against all variants.
Despite politicians who want us to be afraid, getting vaccinated against an infection they’ve already had and re-isolating when told they’ve had contact with another infected “case”, infection with SARS-CoV-2 elicits long term immunity, as completely expected. Longitudinal analysis shows durable and broad immune memory after SARS-CoV-2 infection with persisting antibody responses and memory B and T cells.
Despite Bill Gates’ claim that vaccine induced immunity is superior, natural immunity according to those with relevant qualifications and no known investments in vaccines or other pharmaceutical interests, have stated otherwise:

The “variants of concern” and “poor immune response” Covid-19 stories are untrue.
