Declarations of Dissent

They started out as Covid Doctors Network but have revamped and renamed. Today’s Statement of the Australian Covid Medical Network speaks for me 100% and I am so thankful for them.

Meanwhile, three of the brightest lights through all of this, pre-eminent disease epidemiologists, Professors Martin Kulldorff (Harvard University), Sunetra Gupta (Oxford University) and Jay Bhattacharya (Stanford University) have just met in Massachusetts to formulate The Great Barrington Declaration. Again, I have been so thankful for them over the past months, persistently and courageously injecting sound public health principles into the debate.

Both of these declarations are open for signature. I asked Covid Medical Network why there were no Epidemiologists, Disease Control doctors or other Public Health trained lead signatories to their letter. They replied that they do have background support of Public Health specialists, who have chosen to remain anonymous in order to avoid jeopardising their positions. With the comment The culture of fear, silence and coercion in healthcare is part of the bigger story.

Then there’s Freddie Sayers, a most professional and critical thinking journalist amongst the fray of populist hysteria.

Freddie talks with Martin, Sunetra and Jay at this UnHerd interview in which Jay states “science, morality and basic public health practice point in the same direction, and we are calling for a return to these things“. It is astounding and extremely sad that this is in any way, some form of “dissent”.
